The Czech Republic donated surgical instruments to a hospital in Gabon

The hospital in Libreville received the surgical instruments in total value of 4600 Euro

In 2012 the Embassy of the Czech Republic prepared a local small scale development project „Delivery of medical instruments to a Central hospital in Libreville“. The aim of the project was the modernization of equipment in the Central hospital in Libreville and the increase of availability and quality of medical care for patients in Gabon. The project is also supposed to rise the awareness about the Czech Rebublic.

The hospital received the surgical instruments made by a Czech company MEDIN, P.L.C., in total value of 4600 Euro. The instruments were brought personally by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Tomáš DUB during his visit in Gabon. He handed over the instruments on 25th September 2012.

Gabon is an oil exporting coutry and one of the most flourishing countries in the subsaharian region. However, the disequelibrium in distribution of the national income results in fact that a great part of the gabonese society still lives in poverty. The public hospitals do not have enough means to purchase a much needed modern medical instruments and drugs. The new administration of Ali Bongo Ondimba is trying to solve the situation and reduce the deficit in the health sector.
