Concert of Lubomír Brabec in Nigeria

Czech guitar virtuoso performed on 30th October 2012 on the occasion of the Czech National Day in Abuja

Mr. Lubomír BRABEC performed an one hour long concert in front of populated concert hall in Transcorp Hilton Abuja. He prepared a selection of compositions from authors from the 16th to 20th century: John Downland, Leopold Silvius Weiss, Fernando Sor, Joaquin Turina, Francisco Táregga a Benvenuto Tezi (see the programme attached). About 250 spectators came to the event and rewarded the artist with a warm aplause.

The concert was followed by a reception to mark the 94th anniversary since Czechoslovakia gained independance from the former Astro-Hungarian Empire in 1918. The event was introduced by His Excellency, the Ambasador of the Czech Republic, Mr. Jaroslav Siro who gave the opening speech.

At hotel´s lobby the Embassy displayed the exhibition TATRA Trucs: Expeditions Across Africa. The exhibitions deals with travellers in Czech made Tatra trucs across Africa since the 1930's and with the history of Tatra company, the second oldest vehicule company in the world, which is up to now producing high quality trucs.
