Conference "Visegrád Group: Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary - Jordan: Successful Beneficiaries of NATO and EU Heritage"

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the fall of the "Iron Curtain", the 15th anniversary of joining NATO and the 10th anniversary of the accession to the EU , conference entitled "Visegrád Group: Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary - Jordan : Successful Beneficiaries of NATO and EU Heritage ", organized by the Polish Embassy in Jordan, was held on 4 May in Amman.

The guest of honor at the conference was Prince Hassan bin Talal, who in his speech remarked that the changes undergone by the countries of Central Europe after '89, were the "lessons of democracy" for Jordan and stressed the importance of the Visegrad Group, which in his view, could in many ways become a model for a group of countries of West Asia and North Africa.


Keynote speeches were then delivered by the ambassadors of four Central European countries. Czech Ambassador Petr Hladík focused on the importance of membership in NATO transformation, the process of transformation the Alliance has undergone in the context of changes in the security environment in Europe as well as the role of the Embassy of the Czech Republic as the NATO Contact Point Embassy for Jordan.
