Czech experts train Jordanians in chemical weapons protection

From 22 October to 20 November, a mobile training team of Czech military experts from 31st Brigade of CBRN protection trained the Jordanian professionals from the Jordanian Armed Forces, Police, Civil Defence, Ministry of Health and other institutions. The training focused on sampling and identification of potentially lethal chemical agents.

The team led by major Jaroslav Dohnalek has concluded the training on 20 November by a graduation ceremony with the presence of brig. general Al-Zyoud, the commander of Royal Engineering Corps, col. Martin Cerman, the defense attaché of the Czech Republic and H. E. Mr. Petr Hladík, the Czech Ambassador to Jordan.

On this occasion, the Czech Ambassador stressed the importance of cooperation in the security field between the Czech Republic and Jordan, the latter being an important promoter of stability in otherwise turbulent region. Form his part, brigadier general Al-Zyoud acknowledged the Czech assistance in the CBRN protection which came in the time of increased risk of chemical attack in consequence of the crisis in Syria.

Czech and Jordanian representatives agreed that a follow up of the current training would be highly beneficial for both sides and expressed hope in more intensive military cooperation in the future.
