Czech Republic participated to the international special forces exhibition SOFEX 2014

The International Special Forces Exhibition SOFEX, whose 10th edition was held 6 - 8 May in Amman, ranks among the most important events of its kind not only in the region but also worldwide. The event was traditionally held under the patronage of King Abdullah bin al-Hussein, who was once the first commander of special forces in the Jordanian army. The Czech Republic was represented at official level by Deputy Defence Minister Tomáš Kuchta.

Total of 12 companies, led by the Association of Defence Industry, were presented at the Czech national stand. Prince Faisal bin al-Hussein, brother of the King and his advisor for the military affairs, paid visit to the Czech stand and expressed interest in small arms produced by Česká zbrojovka. Prince Faisal and Deputy Minister Kuchta then discussed areas of military cooperation between the two countries, especially in protecting against the effects of weapons of mass destruction, as well as cooperation in the defense industry. Prince Faisal showed great interest in the software application, allowing codification of military material according to NATO standards. Discussion also touched upon possibilities of cooperation in the field of cyber security.

Bilateral cooperation in the defense industry was also the subject of talks between Deputy  Minister Kuchta and Mr. Abdul-Salam Majali, director of King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau (KADDB), which is a military institution focused on research and development in the field of defense and security.

SOFEX
