Music, dancing, young love and some legendary oldies hit songs – ‘Rebels’ is a glorious retro movie faithfully recreating the enchanting atmosphere of the era of the 1960s. An era full of great expectations and hopes for freedom and better life – even in troubled Czechoslovakia, just then trying to loosen the grip of its communist rule.
Labeled by many as the eastern equivalent of the western hit “Grease”, the film follows the romantic escapades of a group of youngsters about to graduate from their small-town high school. Yet when three young strangers arrive in the town, the local girls are ready to fall head over heels for them. The newcomers however bring more than just fresh romantic intrigue, as an air of mystery surrounds them – a mystery which will change everyone’s lives forever.
