Support of the “Maryam” Training Centre within the Czech Programme of Development Cooperation

On 26 September 2013 Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Azerbaijan Radek Matula presented the results of project “Support of the Maryam Training Centre” that was implemented within the official Czech program of international development cooperation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic contributed through its Embassy in Baku financial support to Maryam Centre for buying necessary equipment for workrooms which offer career skills training to develop electricians, plumbers, welders and hair stylists. The financial amount 6 000 AZN was provided from the Czech Development Cooperation, namely from so called programme ‘’Small Local Projects’’.
The centre was established by the support of the Catholic Relief Services in Azerbaijan in January 2004 and its main goal, besides the organization of retraining courses for the people, whose try to improve their chances in the labour market in the framework of project “Your Future“, is to help children from poor families in education and organising their free time.
‘’There were a lot of changes in the Czech labour market after Velvet Revolution, so we understand very well how important is to work out a good system, which will be able to get an opportunity to one who are not indifferent to their future and the future of their families’’, said Czech Ambassador during ceremony.
