Group of the Czech parliamentarians visited Azerbaijan

Members of the Committee for European affairs of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic led by vice-speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Jan Hamáček and Chairman of the Committee Jan Bauer paid a visit to Azerbaijan from April 15 till April 17, 2013.


The Czech parliamentarians held meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Speaker of Milli Majlis (Parliament) Oktay Asadov and Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov.

Inter-parliamentarian cooperation was the main topic of discussion between Czech guests and their colleagues from Azerbaijani Parliament, members of the friendshipgroup with the Czech Republic and members of the International and Inter-parliamentary Relations Committee.


Both sides highly appreciated development and strengthening of the Czech-Azerbaijani relationship, important role of inter-parliamentary cooperation and the collaboration of both countries within the international organizations. The Czech delegation stressed importance of further development of cooperation in the field of science, education, culture and tourism.

Members of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic also visited Baku Slavic University and discussed the Czech-Azerbaijan relations and cooperation with the students and pedagogues of the University. They also saw over the Center of the Czech language and culture in Baku Slavic University.

The two days program gave to Czech guests the opportunity to see historical part of Baku (Icheri Sheher), Azerbaijan National Museum of History and State Flag Square.
