It was the first visit of an Ambassador of the Czech Republic in the modern history of bilateral relations. The Ambassador learned about the internal processes, the functioning, the programming and goal of the daily as well as the ways in which information is being processed. During the discussion, he stressed the importance of media and their role in modern society. He welcomed the idea that the People’s Daily might be considering to open one of its European correspondent bureaus in Prague. Subsequently, he gave an online interview for the English version of the People’s Daily Internet edition and an hour-long interview on the topic of Czech and Chinese cultures and their mutual influences. Mrs. Ma Li expressed an interest to publish in Renmin Ribao one of earlier articles by the Ambassador concerning Chinese art.
Renmin Ribao has a circulation of more than 2 million copies daily.
