Visit of Governor M. Chovanec in PRC has opened new possibilities to the Pilsen Region

From 6th to 11th June 2013, Governor of the Pilsen Region Mr. M. Chovanec visited the People's Republic of China. Accompanied by the Czech Ambassador in China, Mr. L. Sečka, and together with the delegation, composed especially of the leading representatives of the Czech-Chinese Chamber of Mutual Cooperation,Mr. J. Tvrdík, the Chamber of Commerce, Mr. P. Kužel, and other prominent representatives of the region and its business community came to the partner province Zhejiang.
In the capital, Hangzhou, which belongs to the pearls of Chinese architecture, Mr. Chovanec met with the incumbent mayor, Ms. Tong Guili. In Ningbo, which is important among others because there is the Chinese second largest seaport, he attended the Investment and Trade Symposium and traditional fair of consumer goods. During this period, he met with the President of the Association of Friendship and former Minister of Foreign Trade, Mr. Chen Deming. Together they discussed the possibility to make a significant Chinese investment into the construction of industrial and technological park in the Czech Republic, specifically in the Pilsen region. Governor M. Chovanec explained in detail to Chinese partner the real conditions and benefits for directing such investments in the region.
The most important part of the agenda was meeting of Governor of the Pilsen Region M. Chovanec with his partner, Governor of Zhejiang Province, Mr. Li Qiang. Both politicians agreed that the regions can cooperate successfully in many areas. Comprehensive constructive discussion resulted in the common conclusion that the representatives of the two top regional officials will prepare the concrete cooperation plan in three main directions: a) trade, investment and tourism, b) culture and education, c) new technologies and cooperation in health care. With reference to the twelve cooperation program of China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, presented by former Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao last year in Warsaw, Governor M. Chovanec stressed that the Pilsen Region and Zhejiang provinces could in the future become a model for efficient use of the potential of regional cooperation. Governor M. Chovanec invited his Chinese partner to visit Pilsen Region. The invitation was accepted with satisfaction. Worth mentioning that this was the first direct meeting of Czech and Chinese top regional politicians in the last three years.
The last stop on the Governor's trip was the visit of Governor of the city Suzhou, the significant technological and industrial center in the province of Jiangsu. The main objective was to support the business activities of Škoda Electric, that set up with Chinese partner the joint venture Škoda - Kingway (SKE), producing traction units for metro trains. Governor's meeting with the Deputy Governor for Economy, Mr. Zhou, confirmed the strong interest of both parties in the successful development of the company and its activities not only within the city and the province, but also in the whole China.
