On April 24th, 2014, the first year of competition in the Czech language was held at the Sino-Czech-Slovak Friendship Farm, located 230 km from Beijing. The competition was attended by students of the local branch of the Agricultural University of Hebei Province. In the final round the jury selected the best of the nine students who competed in four disciplines: dictation, recitation, understanding of Czech (unfamiliar) text and its translation. The three best students finally obtained a monthly scholarship at the summer school in Poděbrady, organized by the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies of Charles University in Prague. Czech language courses at the Sino-Czech-Slovak Friendship Farm have been for two years consistently taught by sinologist Tomáš Jirsák.
