Czech humanitarian support for Palestinian refugees

Minister Schwarzenberg approved humanitarian aid for Palestinian refugees

On November 2, 2012 the First Vicepresident of the Government and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Karel Schwarzenberg approved new humanitarian assistance for Palestinian refugees.

The support is woth of 4 million Czech crowns and will be chanelled through UNRWA who is providing medical, educational and social assistance on Palestinian territories and who is also taking care of Palestinian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.

In the context of the current internal conflict in Syria, UNRWA is assisting almost 500 thousand of Palestinian refugees inside this country and, in adition, several thousand of those who escaped from the violence in Syria mainly to Lebanon. The new Czech aid will be dedicated to support these humanitarian activities of UNRWA.
