Invitation to the screening of a Czech film at the 21th European Film Festival

(This article expired 26.11.2017.)

At the 21th European Film Festival (27.11.-8.12.2014, Beirut - Cinema Metropolis Empire Sofil, (see below the complete program), the Czech cinematography will be represented by an film of Viktor Tauš "Clownwise. The Czech film will be screened on Sunday 30 November at 20.00 hr and Thursday 4 December at 17.30 hr.

Clownwise is the story of three friends who thirty years earlier had performed as a trio of clowns.  The three men, Oskar, Viktor and Max, split over a disagreement and had spent the years pursuing their clowning in their own way. This is a wonderful, playful, theatrical film with lots of nice touches and attention to detail.

This film developed the characters nicely and brought the trio full circle from being friends to disagreement, through the process of aging, and wives, and families and all of the traumas life holds, and finally back together again. It was nice to see how each man had continued over the years to incorporate clowning into their lives and their careers.
