On 29 July 2013, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Kohout approved further humanitarian aid in the context of the continuing conflict in Syria.
The Czech Republic is going to support Syrian refugees in neighbouring countries, particularly in Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and Iraq, with a contribution of CZK 5 million. Out of this contribution, CZK 1.5 million will be provided via UNRWA to directly meet the needs of Palestinian refugees fleeing from Syria mostly to Lebanon. The remaining funds will be disbursed via UNHCR towards basic needs of more than 1.75 million Syrian refugees present in neighbouring countries.
