Ceremonial awarding of diplomas of honour on the occasion of the International Children’s exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2012

On 21 March 2012 a ceremonial awarding of diplomas of honour to the winners of the 39th year of the International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice took place at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Brussels. The 39th year’s theme was “That is where I live, that is me.”
Children from all over the world participated in this competition, including Belgium. Two Belgian children, Arne Schotte and Maruwan Dehou, were awarded diplomas of honour which were handed over to them by the Czech ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, Mr. Ivo Šrámek.
Parents, relatives and teachers of the awarded children also participated in the ceremony and a subsequent reception at the Czech Republic Embassy in Brussels.
The Ambassador mentioned in his welcoming speech the reasons of founding of the competition and its importance. He highlighted the long tradition of painting in Flanders and finally he congratulated the awarded children on their achievements.
