Ambassador attends International Romani Art Festival
On 8 June 2012 Ambassador Jiří Šitler attended the International Romani Art Festival (IRAF) and the concert of the Roma „Bachtale Apsa“ band with the famous blind musician Mário Bihári, which took place under support of the Czech Centre Bucharest.
During his stay in Bucharest, Mário Bihári visited also the primary school in Ferentari district where he gave a music workshop for children. The Czech Republic was represented also in the exhibition part of the IRAF by a trilogy of documentary comic strips about the Roma people “O Příbjehi”. The Czech Ambassador gave an interview to the Romanian state television stating that the Romani culture is part of the Czech culture and emphasizing the importance of such festivals. He then wished the audience “šukar šuniben” (a good listening) in Romani.
