Ambassador presented Czech film Lidice at Bucharest film festival
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Lidice massacre, the Czech feature film Lidice was presented at the European Film Festival in Bucharest on May 11, 2012. The historical drama was introduced by Ambassador Jiří Šitler and historian Adrian Cioflâncă.
Without being melodramatic, the movie directed by Petr Nikolaev tells a story of ordinary inhabitants of a little Czech village totally destroyed by German Nazis during the World War II. The village of Lidice has become a symbol of the victims of war crimes worldwide. The film Lidice is to be screened within the European Film Festival also in Timisoara on May 17, 2012.
