Czech Day at the University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine in Bucharest

On 24 May 2012 the Czech Day took place within the framework of the Horticultural Days-Florshow at the University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine in Bucharest, including an expert agro workshop on the latest trends in horticulture in the Czech Republic organized by the Nursery Association of the Czech Republic and the company Arboeko.

The Horticultural Days-Florshow, held on 24 -27 May 2012, were opened by rector of the University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine Sorin Cimpeanu, Romania´s Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sergiu Sorin Chelmu, Ambassador of the Czech Republic Jiří Šitler and Ambassador of Italy Mario Cospito.

 Part of the workshop were lectures given by the representatives of the company Arboeko, the Nursery Association of the Czech Republic, Union of Flower Growers and Florists of the Czech Republic, dean of the Mendel University in Brno as well as the Chairperson of the Czech-Romanian joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Prague Jana Klokočková who provided interpretation at the seminar. The seminar made it possible for the first time to hold a common meeting of Czech and Romanian agro field representatives. Almost 100 representatives of students, professors, Romanian companies from the agro sector and Romanian institutions participated in the workshop. The Czech organisers of the expert agro workshop donated to the University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine in Bucharest plants and trees intended for the building of the Czech-Romanian corner in the area of the university campus.

Part of the Czech Day was also the Linden tree alley planted in honour of Václav Havel and all fighters for freedom and democracy in the Izvor Park. The trees are a gift of the Czechs (The Nursery Association of the Czech Republic and company Arboeko) to the city of Bucharest.
