Bishop Václav Malý visits Czech community in Banat
On 26 – 29 September 2013, Msgr. Václav Malý, Auxiliary Bishop of Prague, visited the villages inhabited by the Czech minority in Mehedinti and Caras-Severin Counties. On behalf of the Embassy of the Czech Republic First Secretary Sabina Cingrošová attended the event.
Msgr. Malý celebrated Masses and held discussions with ethnic Czechs old and young in the villages of Eibenthál, Bígr, Gerník and Svatá Helena. He visited the seat of the South Banat branch of the Democratic Union of Slovaks and Czechs in Romania in the town of Nová Moldava and on September 28 he took part in the celebrations of the consecration anniversary of the Church of Saint Wenceslas (Václav) in Zlatice. During his stay in Romania, Bishop Václav Malý was accompanied by Archdean Václav Mašek, who has been serving as a priest in the Czech villages in Banat for forty-five years.
