Czech film director Jiří Menzel receives lifetime achievement award in Cluj

Czech Oscar-winning film director Jiří Menzel visited Romania on 5 – 9 June 2013. Accompanied by Ambassador Jiří Šitler, he attended the Film Night dedicated to his works in Stirbey Palace in Bucharest on June 5. On June 8, he received the lifetime achievement award at the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) in Cluj.
Earlier, he opened an exhibition of posters advertising his films, together with Ambassador Jiří ŠItler, Czech Centre director René Kubášek and TIFF director Tudor Giurgiu, and had a discussion with the audience after the screening of his film Vesničko má středisková (My Sweet Little Village).
The Czech film director´s visit to Romania met with an immensely good response of the spectators as well as of the press.
