Czech participation at Bookfest

On 31 May 2014, Ambassador Jiří Šitler attended the launching of two new books within the project “Cartea ceha” (Czech Book) of the Curtea Veche Publishing – Letters to Dubenka by Bohumil Hrabal and A Prayer for Katerina Horovitzova by Arnošt Lustig.
Present at the launching at the Bookfest Interrnational Book Fair in Bucharest were the two new Czech books´ translators Mircea Dan Duţă, former Director of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Prague, and Anca Irina Ionescu, as well as writer and professor of literature Călin-Andrei Mihăilescu.
On 1 June 2014, Ambassador Jiří Šitler together with Ambassador of Poland Marek Szczygiel participated in the presentation of the Romanian translation of „Gottland“ by Polish author Mariusz Szczygiel, a collection of essays on Czech people and Czechia that had been translated into many languages. The book has been published by the ART Publishing whose editor-in-chief Laura Albulescu presented the book to Romanian readers.
