Czech participation at the International Independent Film Festival in Bucharest

On 12th – 17th August 2014, Bucharest hosted the International Independent Film Festival Anonimul.

Among the participants there was also a Czech - Burmese film The Monk made by co-directors Vít Janeček  and The Maw Naing (he graduated from FAMU Prague -The Film and TV School of Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, participated in the International Film  Festival in Karlovy Vary and now lives in the USA). The film is a life story of a young Burmese monk living in the gated community of Buddhist monastery in the countryside. It reflects the situation in Burma dictatorship reminiscent of the situation in Romania before 1989 year. The film was received in Bucharest with great interest, followed by a discussion by the Burmese director with the public, including the representative of the Czech Embassy.
