Czech Participation in the Visegrad Conference on Energy
On 29 April 2013, Ambassador Jiří Šitler attended the conference „Energy Security in Central Europe. A Properly Functioning Regional Gas Market – an Attractive and Realistic Option and How to Get There” organized by the Embassy of Poland in Bucharest in its capacity of the Visegrad Group Presidency.
The Delegate Minister for Energy, Mr. Constantin Nita from Romania, the Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Mrs. Beata Stelmach, as well as the high-level speakers from V4 countries, representatives of Romanian administration, energy industry representatives participated in the event. Jan Veškrna, CEO of the Czech company ČEZ Romania, one of the biggest investors in the energy field in Romania, participated in the conference.
The conference was focused on energy security, increasing use of the natural gas potential, including shale gas, elimination of regulatory and trade barriers, importance of developing North-South interconnections and the Southern Corridor Project.
