On October 27, 2011, the Embassy organized a reception to celebrate the anniversary of the foundation of Czechoslovakia, a country which emerged as an independent republic on the 28th October 1918, and whose democratic, republican and tolerant tradition the Czech nation proudly claims.
Over 300 guests, including representatives of the Romanian Parliament, ministry of foreign affairs and other state authorities, the diplomatic corps, representatives of the Romanian business and cultural life, and members of the Czech community in Romania, gathered in the Intercontinental hotel to listen to the Czech and Romanian anthems sung by a well-known Czech singer and a representative of the bigest European ethnic minority, the Roma, Mr. Mario Bihary, to see an exhibition and watch DVDs about the Czech Republic, and to taste Czech food, beer and slivovitz. On that occasion, the Ambassador gave interviews to several TV, radio and other media outlets, including the Nine O´Clock newspaper http://www.nineoclock.ro/czech-republic-marks-national-day/.
