Remembrance of Day of the Fight for Freedom and Democracy

On 17 – 18 November 2014, the Embassy of the Czech Republic remembered 17 November as The Day of the Fight for Freedom and Democracy with several events.
 

On 17 November, Ambassador Jiří Šitler visited the Central School (Scoala Centrala) in Bucharest and after the film 1989 – From the Diary of Ivana A. discussed with high-school students about 25th anniversary of fall of Communism. The event was organized within the project One World Romania in Schools.

In the evening of 17 November, the Ambassador discussed with visitors of a documentary film The Magic Voice of a Rebel about the Czech singer Marta Kubišová. The event took place in the Czech Center Bucharest.

In the morning of 18 November, the Ambassador together with a high-school student Camelia Stoian from the Lyceum “Matei Basarab” in Bucharest, who acted for one day as the Ambassador of the Czech Republic within the so-called Takeover Day, laid a wreath at the commemorative plaque to Václav Havel in Izvor Parc.
