On 5 December 2013, Ambassador Jiří Šitler presented Honourable Mentions and medals to the Romanian children whose works have been awarded at the 41st International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2013.
The International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice was established to commemorate the child victims from the Czech village of Lidice murdered by German Nazis, as well as all other children who have died in wars. Although national initially, this exhibition became an international one in 1973 and since then it has become well known among children and teachers all over the world.
This year´s theme of the competition for children of 4 to 16 years is Traditions and heritage of my country´s people. The expert panel of judges selected over 1 400 from more than 24 000 works from 68 countries. Eleven Romanian children were awarded Honourable Mentions and two children obtained even the highest awards - “Rose of Lidice” medals.
