Ambassador visits Cluj County

On 16 August 2012, Ambassador Jiří Šitler visited Cluj County. During the visit, the Ambassador and Mayor Emil Boc unveiled a plaque at Stadium Park where linden trees, donated by the Czech Arboeko company to the city of Cluj-Napoca, had been planted. The Ambassador also met with Cluj County prefect Gheorge Ioan Vuscan, vice-president of the Cluj County Council Vákar István Valentin, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Stefan Florea Dimitriu, and rector of the Babes-Bolyai University Ioan Aurel Pop.

The talks with the prefect, City Mayor, vice-president of the County Council and chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry focused on Czech investments in the region and the possibilities to further develop economic and cultural cooperation, including the city twinning.  The Ambassador used the opportunity and invited the companies of the region to attend the "Czech-Romanian Investment Opportunities" Forum, to be held at ROMEXPO Exhibition Centre Bucharest on 18 – 19 October 2012. He also discussed the possibilities for student exchanges, Czech language tuition as well as promotion of the Czech Republic on the university campus with the Babes-Bolyai University rector.
