Ambassador opens Eastern Partnership Conference
On 24 November 2012, Ambassador Jiří Šitler and General Mihaïl Ionescu, the Ambassadors of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia as well as the Polish Embassy representative opened an international conference on “The Eastern Partnership: Assessment of Past Achievements and Future Trends”.
In his speech, the Ambassador pointed out the Czech Republic´s part in forming and implementing the Eastern Partnership during the Czech Presidency of V4 in the years 2007-2008 and 2011-2012 and its official inauguration at the Prague summit in May 2009 during the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union. He also mentioned the ministerial meeting of V4-Eastern Partnership held in Prague in March 2012, during which a road map of the European Union for the Eastern Partnership was discussed with the partners as well as the Czech Republic´s priorities in the Partnership, such as support of civic society in the Partner Countries.
The conference was organized in Bucharest by the Center for East European and Asian Studies.
