A New Arabic Translation of Kafka's Short Stories at the Cairo Book Fair 2014

Date: 30 January 2014 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Venue: Cairo Book Fair, Cairo

The Embassy of the Czech Republic and Al Arabi Publishing & Distributing introduced a new Arabic translation of Franz Kafka's short stories at the Cairo Book Fair 2014.

A presentation of the new Arabic translation of Franz Kafka's short stories took place on 30th January at the Cairo Book Fair 2014. It was the Embassy of the Czech Republic that came up with an idea of editing Kafka's short stories, and it was Al Arabi Publishing & Distributing that made it possible. The edition of Kafka's short stories represents another fulfilled goal in the frame-work of the Embassy's project "Kafka in Cairo 2013-2014". In 2013, we commemorated Kafka’s 130th birth anniversary and, in 2014, we commemorate his 90th death anniversary.

The presentation was introduced by Pavel Kafka, Ambassador of the Czech Republic. The main guests were then called to deliver their speeches: dr. Khaled El Beltagi - one of the two authors of the new Arabic translation, Salma Khames M.A. - the daughter of the second author of the new translation, dr. Youssri Khames, dr. Marketa Malisova - Center of Franz Kafka in Prague, director, and Professor Fahmy El Dessouqqi, one of the Egyptian translators of Kafka.
