Call for Nominees for Václav Havel Prize

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has announced a call for nominations for Václav Havel Prize. Its winner, awarded during a ceremony on 29 September 2014, will receive a financial reward in the amount of 60 000 EUR (half of which is contributed by the Czech government) in addition to a memorial medal and diploma.

The prize in the name of the former Czechoslovak and Czech President is jointly awarded by PACE, Václav Havel Library and Charter 77 Foundation to individuals or organizations for outstanding human rights achievements. The very first prize was awarded in September 2013 to a Belorussian human rights defender Ales Bialiatski.

Nominations supported by at least five signatures of individuals or institutions should be sent to hrprize.pace@coe.int no later than April 30, 2014.
