Mons. Malý in the Church in Astoria

(This article expired 23.06.2014 / 19:00.)

The Czech and Slovak parishioners welcomed on Sunday October 13th, 2013 at the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Astoria new bishop for Czech expatriates, Mons. Vaclav Maly, who personally celebrated the mass.

An interesting discussion followed the service, lasting for almost two hours. The topics of the discussion were the events of November 1989, which Mons. Maly was a direct participant of, as well as the relationship between Christians and Muslims or the protection of human rights in countries with a democratic deficit that Mons. Maly visits to encourage local Christians who do not yet have full freedom of religion. Questions were aplenty but the schedule of bishop Maly was very busy and so he eventually had to leave. Before he left, though, he promised to definitely return to Astoria some time in the near future.
