Representatives of the Czech-American community in NYC together with the Consulate General of Czech Republic in New York and representatives of the Czech Government celebrated 5 years since the re-opening of the Bohemian National Hall at the end of September and beginning of October 2013. This historical landmark has served the Czech community in NYC for well over 100 years as an important cultural and community center.
BNH underwent the complete reconstruction and modernization at the beginning of 21st century and was officially re-opened in the Fall of 2008. On the occassion of its fifth anniversary the institutions who presently share the building, namely the Bohemian Benevolent & Literary Association, Consulate General of Czech Republic and the Czech Center, decided to commemorate the anniversary with series of events celebrating the BHN as an important meeting place of the Czech community in NYC as well as an unique show case of the Czech Republic and its many facets in Manhattan.
The highlight of the program will be the traditional annual Czech Street Festival on October 6th, 2013 with a concert of Czech music band Tata Bojs. A week earlier during the UN General Assembly the high ranking representatives of the Government of the Czech Republic will visit BNH and will meet with the Czech-American community.
