Student visa
The school/programme has to be accredited by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic, if not then you are not eligible to apply for this type of visa, you have to apply for the visa for other purposes. Incomplete applications are inadmissible and will be returned to the applicant!!!

The school/program has to be accredited by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic otherwise you are not eligible to apply for this type of visa and have to apply for the long- term visa for other purposes.
PROCESSING TIME
The long-stay student visa application shall be processed within 60 days from the date the Consulate receives the complete application.
The long-term visa for other purposes shall be processed within 90 days from the date the Consulate receives the complete application.
It is not possible to expedite the visa process!
GENERAL INFORMATION
!!!All documents must be presented in their original form or as a notarized copy
and may not be older than 180 days, except documents like travel document, birth certificate and marriage certificate.
The decision about visa application is made by the regional office of the Department for Asylum and Migration Policy of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic.
The visa for a stay over 90 days is granted for maximum length of 6 months.
All documents (except the travel document and bank statement) must be in the Czech language. Translations into the Czech language must be officially verified.
While lodging the application, an interview with the applicant can be conducted. A written record of the interview can be a part of the application. A record will be written down in Czech languge and will be signed by the applicant and the officer of the Consulate who will conduct the interview. In case you don´t understand Czech you can bring an interpreter with you to translate the written record.
Additional copies of all submited documents are required (one set of the originals or notarized copies and one set of copies including the application and data page of the passport+prepaid self addressed envelope)!!!
If you need your passport during the visa process, you can withdraw it personally or send us a request and prepaid self-addressed USPS Express Mail envelope. Only upon the receiving the written request your passport can be returned to you. The passport must be resubmitted again at the end of the process for the issuance of the visa.
In the end of the visa process you must be present in the US!!!
In case visa has been refused, you have the right of appeal. The appeal should be addressed to the Department for Asylum and Migration Policy of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic that made the decision about the application within 15 days after receiving the information about the refusal of the application.

2. Fee - university programs accredited by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic are free of charge.
3. Two photographs
2 passport photos have to resemble the actual appearance. The photographs have to be glued on the application - there is the frame in the right upper corner of the application.
4. Original passport
Do not forget to sign your passport!!
You must submit your original passport. Its validity must exceed the expected length of stay by at least 90 days (after the visa expires). The passport can not be older then 10 years.
5. Document confirming your sufficient financial resources
A notarized copy of the internationally recognized debit/credit card on your name with a validity during your stay in the Czech Republic and an original or notarized copy of a corresponding bank account statement held on your name with amounth cca 3000 USD.
6. Document confirming the purpose of stay
Original or notarized copy of the acceptance letter issued by the relevant accredited school (according to the Section 64 of Act No. 326/1999 Col) stating that you will study accredited programms and you will be enlisted in the Registry Book of the Ministry of Education (in Czech language) .
7. Document confirming accommodation
A document confirming the accommodation can not be a part of the acceptance letter. It has to be submitted separately.
Confirmation on accommodation in Czech language.
In the case of a lease for an apartment/house - the original or a notarized copy of the lease contract,
or
an original statement from the owner of an apartment/house stating his/her ability and willingness to provide applicant´s accommodation for the time of stay (signature must be notarized by a Czech notary),
or
o in the case of a sublet - the original or a notarized copy of the lease contract and an affidavit signed by the owner confirming the sublet (signature must be notarized by a Czech notary,
8. Criminal History Background
o An affidavit letter confirming that you have never been indicted and sentenced for a felony of any kind. Your signature must be notarized by a Notary Public or you can signe it in front of the Consular Officer.
o For non US nationals: submit the Criminal History Record from the country of your nationality. It must be appropriatelly certified (Apostille or super-legalization) and it must be accompanied with the translation into the Czech language.
In addition, if you have lived in any country for 6 months or more in the previous three years, please contact the Consulate for details.
9. Medical health/travel insurance in Czech language.
If it is in English, a certified translation into the Czech language is required.
If you would like to send the passport back after the visa process you have to enclose a prepaid (USD 19.95, self-addressed US Postal Service Express Mail Envelope (NO FEDEX, NO UPS are accepted). For the future tracking we suggest to make a written record of the registration number for your record.
