Curriculum Vitae of the Ambassador

vv sevcikovaIn 1973-1978 Mrs. PhDr. Hana Sevcikova studied English and Danish at the faculty of Arts, Charles University, Prague. Following graduation, she worked for the Foreign Languages Department of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences (1979-1984), during that time she took her doctors degree and pursued further studies. In 1984-1989 she was engaged in translating and interpreting from Danish, Norwegian, English and German (inter alia, she translated six titles from Danish and Norwegian). In 1989-1990 she worked as a translator for the Royal Danish Embassy in Prague. In 1990 she has joined the Territorial Department for Nordic and German-speaking Countries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From January 1991 until 1995 she was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the Kingdom of Denmark.

She is married, with two children, her husband, Mr. Vratislav Sevcik, is an academic painter.

Nowadays Mrs. Sevcikova is engaged as a Head of the Department of Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

VV BuchtaMr. Alois Buchtagraduated from the Technical University in Brno in 1968. In the years of 1969 and 1970 he was engaged as an export/import Assistant Manager. From 1971 until 1974 he was persecuted by then Czechoslovak communist authorities and had to work manually in various professions, in the years of 1975-1989 in the field of computer systems. After the Velvet Revolution in 1989 he took up the position of Deputy Manager with an Austrian - Czech joint venture in Prague.

In 1991 and 1992 he worked in the Department of International Relations of the Czech Government. After the Ministry of International Relations of the Czech Republic was established in July 1992, he headed its Euro - Atlantic Department. From January 1993 until July 1995 he was Director of the Central European Department and Deputy Director General of the Euro - Atlantic Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

From October 1995 until January 2000 he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the Kingdom of Denmark.

From February 2000 until August 2001 he was Diplomatic Adviser to the Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic in the rank of Ambassador - at - large.

From November 2001 he was Head of Mission of the Czech Republic to Bosnia and Herzegovina, since June 2002 to August 2005 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

His spouse, Mrs. Ludmila Buchtová, Doctor of Science, worked and published in the fields of biochemistry, haematology and dermatology.

From September 2005 he is Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the Republic of Lithuania.

VV KostalovaMrs. Marie Kostalova graduated from the College of Economics in Prague (1962 - 1967). In the years1973-1990 she worked to the Research Institute for Energy, Prague as a researcher (1973-1987) and to the Institute of prognosis of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, Prague as a researcher (1987-1990).

Since 1990 she is engaged to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prague, in 1990-1996 as a Director of Department of International Economic Organizations, in 1996-1999 as a Director of Department of International Economic Organizations and in 1996-1999 as an Ambassador, Head of Mission of the Czech Republic to the OSCE, Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna.

From March 2001 until 2004 he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the Kingdom of Denmark.

Mrs. Kostalova is married. Her husband, Mr. Emil Kostal, graduated from the Czech Technical University (electro-technical engineer), today he is a senior lecturer at the Technical University in Prague. They have 2 children.

Nowadays Mrs. Kostalova is an adviser of the Deputy Minister of Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Head of Department of the Services Strategy and Quality.

ijancarek fotoMr. Ivan Jancarekcompleted his studies at the Institute of International Relations in Moscow in 1988, where he specialized in the history of Africa, in particular in the former Portuguese colonies of Africa.

He continued on to the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs in the African Department. He began his diplomatic career at the Embassy in Maputo in Mozambique, being transferred, after approximately a year to the Republic of South Africa, where he contributed to the process of reestablishing of diplomatic ties between the Czech Republic and the Republic of South Africa. He concluded his mission to SA in 1995 in Cape Town, by establishing the Consulate General of the Czech Republic.

In the course of his posting to Africa and during the Czech membership of the Security Council he was sent to the Czech Permanent Mission to UN as an expert. He also served as UN Observer to the elections in RSA and Mozambique.

On returning home, he led the Balkan Section of the MFA with specific responsibility for Turkey. In 1996 he departed as Deputy Head of Mission and Councilor to the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Sweden. In 2001, when leaving Sweden he was appointed as director of several departments, which were involved in the accession of the Czech Republic to the EU. He was a member of the team of negotiators, which lead the Czech accession talks. After the Accession Treaty was signed he was named Director General with responsibility for EU relations. From 2004 until June 2008 he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the Kingdom of Denmark. Nowadays Mr Jancarek is Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Brazil. Ambassador Jancarek is married to Andrea Jancarkova, who works in the travel sector. Together they have two children.
