Working visit from the Committee for EU Affairs of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic

On 14-16 May 2018, a delegation of the Committee for EU Affairs of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic visited Ireland. The four-member delegation was led by Václav Hampl, Chairman of the Committee who was accompanied by Jaroslav Doubrava, Vice-Chairman of the Committee, Eva Syková, Vice-Chairman of the Committee and Libor Michálek, Member of the Committee. The main objective of the visit was to discuss issues related to Brexit and its direct impact on Ireland. During the visit, numerous meetings took place in Dublin and in towns on both sides of the border.

During the visit, the delegation met with  the Vice-President of the Parliament of Ireland, Paul Coghlan TD,  Chairman of the EU Joint Parliamentary Committee of Ireland, Michael Healy-Rae TD, Rory Montgomery, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ireland and Federico Fabbrini, Director of the Brexit Institute at Dublin City University. The delegation then went on to visit Dundalk, Newry, Carlingfort and Flurrybridge Industrial Park, where they met with Colm Markey, Louth County Council chairman, Mark Dearey, Councilor for the Greens, Paddy Malone, Dundalk Chamber Chief Officer, and Conor Patterson, business agency Newry & Mourne.
