Minister Kohout approved a humanitarian aid for Chile

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jan Kohout approved granting of a humanitarian aid on March 15, 2010. An amount of 4 mil. CZK is aimed on Chile which was stricken by an earthquake at the end of February. A humanitarian aid is aimed on a reconstruction of a damaged town Quillón which is located less than 100 km from an epicenter of the earthquake.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic welcomes the March 7 parliamentary elections in Iraq and hopes that the elections are free, fair, transparent, legitimate and inclusive. These are the third parliamentary elections taking place in Iraq in the post-Saddam era. We welcome that all Iraqis appear eager to participate. It is particularly important that the Iraqi Government that is formed on the basis of these elections reflects the will of all the Iraqi people.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jan Kohout met Secretary General of NATO Anders Fogh Rasmussen on March 5, 2010. Both representatives met during a visit of Anders Fogh Rasmussen to Prague. It was a first official visit of the current Secretary General in Prague which was focused on a meeting with Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Jan Fischer.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jan Kohout approved granting of a humanitarian aid for Myanmar refugees in Malaysia on March 1, 2010. An amount of 700 000 CZK is aimed on funding of a yearlong education for children of Myanmar refugees which will be sheltered by UNHCR and provided by a non-governmental organization Taiwan Buddhist Tzu – chi Foundation Malaysia.
