Since 1 May 2004 the Dutch and other EU citizens do not need any visa or other permits to travel, live and work in the Czech Republic. You can enter and reside in the Czech Republic without any restriction - all you need is your passport or identity card. The only thing you have to do is to notify your presence in the country at your local Foreign Police office within 30 days following your arrival (unless you stay in a hotel or similar accommodation).

If you intend to stay in the Czech Republic for more than three months for any reason, you are entitled (not obliged) to apply for a "Certificate of Temporary Residence for an EU citizen".

Family members of EU citizens

Your family members who are non-EU citizens are required to report their presence in the Czech Republic at the respective Foreign Police Department within 30 days of entering the Czech Republic (if they expect to stay longer than 30 days).

Your family members who are non-EU citizens do not need any visa for a stay in the Czech Republic up to 3 months. They need only a valid passport and a temporary or permanent residence permit issued by another EU country.

If your expected stay in the Czech Republic exceeds 3 months, your family members who are non-EU citizens are obliged to apply at the Ministry of Interior for a temporary residence permit within 3 months of entering the Czech Republic.
