The largest ever team of 133 athletes will represent the Czech Republic at the opening Games of the XXX Olympiad in London.
The largest ever team of 133 athletes will represent the Czech Republic at the opening Games of the XXX Olympiad in London. Petr Koukal, a Czech badminton player who successfully fought over cancer in the past, will be the flag-bearer at tonight’s official opening ceremony.
The Czech representation won six medals at the last Olympic Games in Beijing and hopes are high for even better score this time. Tennis champion Petra Kvitová, a reigning javelin gold medalist Barbora Špotáková, rifle shooter Kateřina Emmons, canoer Štěpánka Hilghertová, cyclist Roman Kreuziger, rower Ondřej Synek and decathlete Roman Šebrle are those with the highest chances to mount the podium.
The Czech House will be the centre of accompanying cultural, political and business activities for the duration of the Games. More information is available here.
