The pupils of two community schools in Western Province have gained access to safe drinking water through the financial support of the Czech Republic
The implementation of the project of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and the NGO YWCA Zambia allowed for the opening of two wells equipped with manual water pumps near two Western Province schools. The safe sources of drinkig water are thus made accessible not only to the pupils and teachers of the Bethlehem Community School in Sefula Constituency and Isambai Basic School in Luena Constituency, but also to the other members of the local communities. It is a well-known fact that the exclusive consumption of clean drinking water prevents numerous diseases developing in the alimentary tract. Moreover, having such a water pump in the vicinity brings several positive "spill-over" effects along, including the increased school attendance of girls.
