Czech music and culture in Festival Leo Brouwer 2014

Celebrating the Year of Czech Music, the 6th Festival of Chamber Music Leo Brouwer incorporated singular cultural performances comprising of various Czech contributions.
The Czech cultural part of the Festival was launched on October 2 by the exhibition "Hay un presagio en el aire" (There is an omen in the air) by Tomás Oliva, inspired by the story of Franz Kafka's "The Silence of the Sirens".
On October 3, there was a photographic exhibition by Jiří Všetečka “Praga, la ciudad de la música” (Prague, the city of music) inaugurated in the gallery Kcho Estudio Romerillo in Playa municipality of Havana.
From October 3 to 5 the theater El ciervo encantado presented Kafka´s “El artista del hambre”(A Hunger Artist) interpreted by Juan Ignacio Ceacero.
The main event presenting Czech culture of this year´s edition of the Festival was a concert titled “De Praga a La Habana” (From Prague to Havana) by guitarist Pavel Steidl and ArtemissTrio, which took place on October 6 in the iconic Martí Theatre. Amongst others, pieces by A. Dvořák, L. Janáček, J. Suk and B. Martinů were played.
As a speciality of the programme, The Hispanoamerican Cultural Centre presented the documentary “Deo Gratias” about Antonín Dvořák as well as a cycle of operas by Leoš Janáček from October 6 to 8.
