Jenůfa in Finnish National Opera

First night of the opera Jenůfa by Leoš Janáček was presented in the Finnish National Opera on January 24, 2014 at 7 p.m. The original Czech name of the opera is Její pastorkyňa. It was performed in Czech.
The leading role was performed by the Finnish star soprano Karita Mattila known for her excellent interpretations of Janáček. Orchestra of the Finnish National Opera was conducted by Czech conductor Jakub Hrůša. The performance was directed by Olivier Tambosi. A great merit on the Czech language production belongs to Docent Helena Lehečková, Senior Lecturer from the Department of Modern Languages at the University of Helsinki. The subtitles are in Finnish, Swedish and English.
On Tuesday January 14 at 6 p.m. the public had an opportunity to meet the main characters of the opera (Karita Mattila and Jorma Silvasti) in Alminsali hall. On Monday January 27 at 6.15 p.m. you could listen to the presentation of the opera story in the main foyer. During January and February 2014 there are nine performances altogether.
