Clear luminous colours and motifs inspired by old northern sagas. These are the characteristic features of the work of the outstanding Finnish artist Markku Keränen who presents several large and smaller pictures in the premises of the Czech Embassy. This is one of the exhibitions in the frame of the Embassy Gallery project organized by the Czech Embassy in Helsinki in cooperation with the Czech academic painter and curator living in Finland, Petr Rehor. Inauguration of the exhibition was attended by Finnish artists and representatives of public life, Czech expatriates and art friends. As the curator of the exhibition Petr Rehor said, “we are pleased that Embassy Gallery is becoming a kind of old time salon, a place for regular discussions not only about art but also other social topics.”

Markku Keränen graduated from the Academy of Arts and Design in Helsinki (1967–1971) where he was later also as a teacher. He was born in Lapland in the village Salla near the Russian boarder. The purity and grace of the Lapland’s nature have influenced significantly his work which expresses wisdom and beauty of eternal human life. The art painter presents his exhibitions in prestige Finnish galleries and also art lovers in the Czech Republic could see his works in the past – for example in the Fine Art Gallery in Most and in The Czech Museum of Fine Arts in Prague.

Embassy Gallery presents
