Finnish Opera is preparing a performance of Janáček´s and Čapek´s The Makropulos Case

As one of the highlights of this year’s opera season in Helsinki will undoubtedly be a performance of the famous opera The Makropulos Case by the Czech composer Leoš Janáček, based on less famous theatre play by one of the most significant Czech play writers of the 20th century Karel Čapek.

The first night of the performance which is a co-production of the Finnish National Opera and San Francisco Opera is scheduled for August 2012. The lead role of Emilia Marty will be performed by Finnish soprano singer Karita Mattila, directed by French Olivier Tambosi.
