The Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Hong Kong organized on the occasion of the National Day of the Czech Republic a reception on the October 28th, 2009. The event was attended by 180 guests, the Secretary for Justice of the Hong Kong SAR, Honourable Wong Yan Lung, was the guest of honour representing the Hong Kong Government.

On October 13th, 2009 Mr. Rudolf Hykl, the Consul General of the Czech Republic, presented eight Hong Kong students from art schools a honorary mention for their works, which were selected by the organizers of the 37th International Children´s Competition of Fine Arts "Lidice 2009“.

HE Jan Fischer, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, visited on 4-6 September, 2009 Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR. He was accompanied by several high ranking Czech Government officials and a business mission organized by the Czech Chamber of Commerce. The visit was the first one of the Czech Prime Minister in Hong Kong and Macau since the establishment of the Czech Republic in 1993.

The Czech Republic was visibly represented at the 2009 edition of the International Travel Expo, which took place on 11-14 June, 2009 in Hong Kong. Czechtourism, a government agency, and the region of South Bohemia, brought to Hong Kong also the Prachen bagpipe folk ensemble, which entertained visitors of the Czech pavilion.
