Mr. Jaroslav Kantůrek, Consul General of the Czech Republic together with Mr. Eddie Ng Hak-kim, SBS, JP, Secretary for Education of Hong Kong SAR, Mrs. Ivona Kasalická, Curator of the International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts (ICEFA) Lidice and Mr. Josef Zedník, chairman of the panel of judges of ICEFA Lidice 2012 conferred 15 commemorative medals "Rose of Lidice" and 32 Honourable Mention diplomas to students of 12 Hong Kong art schools, whose art works dedicated to the theme "The Theatre - The Puppet - The Fairytale" in a tribute to the 100th birthday anniversary of Mr. Jiří Trnka (a world-famous Czech painter, printmaker, puppeteer, sculptor, illustrator and founder of Czech animated film) were among the recipients of prizes in the 40th International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2012.
Due to the big increase of the awarded children from Hong Kong compared to previous years the award ceremony had to be moved from the Consulate General to the bigger premises. The event was organized together with Simply Art School and Sung Hung Kai Properties in the East Point City Shopping Mall and was attended by approximately 200 people. Except for awarded children, their parents and teachers, there were also representatives of media (among them Asia correspondent at Czech Radio, Ms. Kateřina Procházková). During and after the ceremony the winning art works were exhibited for the general public.
