Celebration of National Day
The Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Hong Kong organized a cocktail reception on the October 25th, 2007, celebrating the Czech National Day, which falls on the October 28th. The event, which was held at the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel, was attended by 200 guests representing the Hong Kong Government, academia, Consular Corps and the Czech community in Hong Kong.

The event, which was held at the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel, was attended by 200 guests representing the Hong Kong Government, Hong Kong and international business, academia, consular corps and the Czech community in Hong Kong.
The Honorable Financial Secretary John Tsang was the guest of honor representing the Hong Kong SAR Government. In his speech he said, that "the Czech Republic has a long and distinguished history and was already a player on the world stage long before the term "globalisation" became a part of everyday language". Mr. John Tsang also mentioned that "the Czech Republic is Hong Kong's second largest trading partner among the new members who have joined the European Union since 2004".
The Czech Consul General, Mr. Rudolf Hykl, highlighted in his remarks that the range of the Czech - Hong Kong bilateral relationship is wide and expending. He mentioned that the Czech exports going through Hong Kong are growing dramatically with the turnover reaching over 500 milion USD. The Czech National Day Reception was graced by a classical music performance of a quartet from Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
