On the occasion of the National Day of the Czech Republic, which falls on October 28th, the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Hong Kong and Macao organized a reception, which was held in InterContinental Hong Kong on October 28, 2011. The guest of honor was Honorable Wong Yan-lung, Secretary for Justice. The reception was attended by 150 guests who represented chambers of commerce, leading businesses, administration departments of Hong Kong and Macao, academia, cultural institutions, consular corps and Czech community in Hong Kong and Shenzen. The highlight of the evening was definitely the performance of Ms. Jitka Hosprová, a top Czech violist, who performed the national anthems of the Czech Republic and the People’s Republic of China and another two pieces (Partita from the contemporary Czech Composer Jan Klusák and Largo” from the Czech national composer Antonín Dvořák).
To further commemorate the National Day, the Consulate General also published a full-page presentation of the Czech Republic in the Main Section of the South China Morning Post in its edition on October 28, 2011. The special report introduced the Czech Republic as a place full of historical and cultural heritage and beautiful landscapes. The page also contained a message from Mr. Jaroslav Kantůrek, Consul General, and advertisements of CzechTourism and two Czech companies that actively conduct their business activities in Hong Kong – Lasvit and Preciosa.
