The Czech Republic Celebrated its National Day in Hong Kong

On the occasion of the National Day of the Czech Republic, which falls on October 28th as well as this year’s 95th Anniversary of Czechoslovak Independence and the 20th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Czech Republic, the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Hong Kong and Macao organized a reception, which was held in InterContinental Hong Kong on October 28th, 2013. The Guest of Honor was the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region the Honorable Leung Chun-ying. The reception was attended by 200 guests.

On the occasion of the National Day of the Czech Republic, which falls on October 28th as well as this year’s 95th Anniversary of Czechoslovak Independence and the 20th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Czech Republic, the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Hong Kong and Macao organized a reception, which was held in InterContinental Hong Kong on October 28th, 2013. The Guest of Honor was the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Honorable Leung Chun-ying.

The reception was attended by 200 guests representing chambers of commerce, leading businesses, academia, cultural institutions, consular corps and growing Czech community in Hong Kong, Macao and Shenzhen.

The evening was highlighted by the performance of the Czech harp player, Jana Boušková, who performed the national anthems of the Czech Republic and the People’s Republic of China and “The Moldau” (Vltava) by the Czech national composer Bedřich Smetana.

To further commemorate the Czech National Day, the Consulate General also published a full-page presentation of the Czech Republic in the Main Section of the South China Morning Post in its edition on October 28th, 2013 (electronic version of the page is in the attachment)  The article mainly reports about the great business, cultural and educational relationship between the Czech Republic and Hong Kong.
