Havel´s Play "The Memorandum" and Two Czech Films at Cultural Festival in Hong Kong

Václav Havel´s Play "The Memorandum" was performed and the Czech films "The Party and the Guests" directed by Jan Němec (1966) and "The Firemen´s Ball" directed by Miloš Forman (1967) were screened during the cultural festival "The Lasting Legacies of Eastern Europe", which took place in Hong Kong from 18.10. till 17.11.2013.

Václav Havel (5.10.1936 - 18.12.2011) was writer and dramatist; one of the first spokesmen for Charter 77; leading figure of the Velvet Revolution of 1989; last President of Czechoslovakia; and first President of the Czech Republic.

The Memorandum (1965) is one of Havel’s most representative plays, using ironic humour to incisive effect in a brilliantly sharp satire of authoritarian bureaucracies and their word games.

The Memorandum directed by Yatyau was performed by Class 7A Drama Group Limited at Hong Kong Cultural Centre Studio Theatre on Friday 8. 11. 2013 and Saturday 9. 11. 2013 in Cantonese with English subtitles.
