The Czech Republic celebrated its National Day in Hong Kong

On the occasion of the National Day of the Czech Republic, which falls on October 28th, the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Hong Kong and Macao organized a reception, which was held in InterContinental Hong Kong on October 26th, 2012. The Guest of Honor was Honorable Mrs. Carrie Lam, Chief Secretary for Administration. The reception was attended by 200 guests.

On the occasion of the National Day of the Czech Republic, which falls on October 28th, the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Hong Kong and Macao organized a reception, which was held in InterContinental Hong Kong on October 26th, 2012. The reception was attended by 200 guests representing chambers of commerce, leading businesses, academia, cultural institutions, consular corps and growing Czech community in Hong Kong, Macao and Shenzhen.

The Guest of Honor was Honorable Mrs. Carrie Lam, Chief Secretary for Administration, The invitation to the Czech National Day Reception accepted as well Honorable Jasper Tsang, the president of the Legislative Council, Honorable Lai Tung-kwok, Secretary for Security and Honorable Eddi Ng Hak-kim Secretary for Education.

The evening was highlighted by the performance of string quartet led by the Czech violin player Mr. Vít Polášek, who is a member of the Macao Orchestra. Apart from the music during the arrival of the quests to the reception the quartet performed the national anthems of the Czech Republic and the People’s Republic of China and “American String Quartet” from the Czech national composer Antonín Dvořák.

To further commemorate the Czech National Day, the Consulate General also published a full-page presentation of the Czech Republic in the Main Section of the South China Morning Post in its edition on October 28th, 2012.  The special report introduced the Czech Republic as a place full of business opportunities with a strategic position in Europe and also as a place with high quality universities attracting foreign students.
